Ampara District Youth training program on Conflict Resolution, Ethnic Identities, Sustainable Peace and Reconciliation





Expressing his views, Mohomad Sabreen, a participant of the Ampara District Youth training program on Conflict Resolution, Ethnic Identities, Sustainable Peace and Reconciliation said that,
The competition between children under the theme of "I am the best child in the school" make discrimination among children and negatively influencing for the development of humanity. Instead of developing understanding among different religions, it leads to develop misunderstanding among children.


The program was held in SWOAD premises Akkarapaththu, Ampara, with the participation of 18 young male and female, representing Islamic, Hindu, and Buddhist religious communities, on 13th and 14th of August 2019.


Ampara was the fifth destination of the trainer's group to educate youth. Ampara District Fisheries Solidarity (DIFSO) coordinates the program.

Tree Planting Campaign Continue at Matara

NAFSO had launched tree planting campaign in it's environment justice program under Youth Movement for Environment and Social Justice. Southern Fisheries Organization at Matara continue their tree planting activities among youth and children in Nilwella village.
L.Y. Wasantha, said at the plant distribution program, "We are sure, the children would only plant trees, but also definitely take care of their sustenance. So, we hand over the responsibility to youth for tree planting campaign in our youth societies. We will implement the monitoring activities among those youth societies in Nilwella."

AGM of YMESOC

Youth Movement for Environment and Social Change(YMESOC) conducted it’s Annual General Meeting at Kamatha, Keeriyankalliya, Puttlam with 65 committee members from 13 districts. “We did reflect our past year work plan as we conducted among youth and as well as we did plan for the year 2019.” Laksiri Fernando, Youth Coordinator, NAFSO.
“We will conduct an excursion at Dolukanda hill by end of December 2018, and will declare Dolukanda national declaration based on environment, future of youth and development. This will be extended up to global declaration at Diyathalawa by 2019,” Said Ajith Rupasonghe, the founder of “Mihimawage Daruwo” Environmental Organization.
